Bertillionage vs. Fingerprints
In the early 1900s in Kansas, two inmates with almost the same name and the same Bertillion measurements were found. Not that fingerprinting needed any help (it was easier, cheaper and much faster), but this case helped propel fingerprints forward as a much better form of identification.
